The Nuclear Industry Association (NIA) is the trade association and representative voice of Britain's civil nuclear industry. It represents over 130 companies and the diversity of membership facilitates and encourages effective industry interaction to support our key objectives. The range of member companies continues to grow and includes companies involved in most business sectors of the UK civil nuclear industry. The British Nuclear Energy Society, which was first established in 1962, is the leading learned body for all persons interested in nuclear energy. Nuclear Energy, in this context, includes all aspects related to the use of nuclear fission and fusion and nuclear engineering and science in general, including decommissioning and waste arising. The BNES functions almost completely by the contributions of volunteers who provide their experience and dedication to fulfill its objectives, which are:- To provide information to members, UK and worldwide on Nuclear Energy Issues. To provide opportunities for members to meet and debate issues locally, nationally and internationally. To provide opportunities for members to publish and present papers. To promote increased public understanding of the issues surrounding the use of Nuclear Energy and support the public education activities of the Industry.
